MOH clarifies quarantine protocols for unvaccinated children entering T&T

The Min­istry of Health says un­vac­ci­nat­ed chil­dren will fall un­der cat­e­go­ry 4 of the Quar­an­tine Pro­to­cols for pas­sen­gers en­ter­ing T&T. The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the Min­istry of Health:

The Min­istry of Health takes the op­por­tu­ni­ty to clar­i­fy its quar­an­tine po­si­tion as it re­lates to the quar­an­tine pro­to­cols for un­vac­ci­nat­ed chil­dren en­ter­ing both Trinidad and To­ba­go (This will ap­ply to both Na­tion­als and Non Na­tion­als).

A child is de­fined in Trinidad and To­ba­go as a per­son un­der the age of 18 years of age. It must be not­ed at this time that the World Health Or­ga­ni­za­tion (WHO) has not ap­proved the use of vac­cines in this cat­e­go­ry (with the ex­cep­tion of the Pfiz­er Bion­tech vac­cine (Com­i­nar­ty); which is au­tho­rized for ages 12 years and above, how­ev­er, at this time, re­mains large­ly un­avail­able to the peo­ple of Trinidad and To­ba­go.

As such, Cat­e­go­ry 4 of the doc­u­ment Quar­an­tine Pro­to­cols for Pas­sen­gers En­ter­ing in­to Trinidad and To­ba­go will ap­ply. The fol­low­ing will be re­quired for un­vac­ci­nat­ed chil­dren:

1. PCR Test 72 hours pri­or to ar­rival

2. Re­peat of a PCR test be­tween days 3 to 5

3. All test re­sults, both pos­i­tive and neg­a­tive to be re­port­ed to the Coun­ty Med­ical Of­fi­cer of Health (CMOH) and/or Chief Med­ical Of­fi­cer (CMO). Those who are pos­i­tive will be re­quired to iso­late im­me­di­ate­ly at the dis­cre­tion of the CMOH and an ad­di­tion­al quar­an­tine or­der will be ap­plied.

Mem­bers of the pub­lic are al­so ad­vised that the same con­di­tions for ful­ly vac­ci­nat­ed adults will be ap­plied to ful­ly vac­ci­nat­ed chil­dren.
