Phillies beat Marlins 9-8 in 15 innings

The Philadelphia Phillies haven’t had many victories, so maybe they can be excused for celebrating this one twice.

Nick Williams hit a walk-off, two-out double in the bottom of the 15th inning, scoring Aaron Altherr as Philadelphia came from behind in a wild game to defeat the Miami Marlins 9-8 on Tuesday night.

Innings-wise, it was the longest game since 2014 for the Phillies, who have a major league-low 55 wins, and second-longest this season for the Marlins.

Williams had three hits and reached base five times in the marathon game, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. He has 47 RBIs since his major league debut the week before the All-Star break.
